Vintage Go Kart Racing Mini Bike Engine Power Products Ah58 With 5/8″ Shaft(Cw)

Vintage

This is a Tecumseh Lauson Power Products AH-58 2-cycle engine. This engine runs and have just taken it off my kart.  It is an amalgamation of various parts of various engines I have. The
PTO side of the crankshaft is 5/8″ in diameter and is 2-7/8″+
long.  The key way is 3/16″ and is 2-3/4″ long with the flat
2-11/16″.  The PTO side of the crankshaft is center-tapped for a
1/4″ bolt which enables securing the sprocket or clutch to the crankshaft.

This crankshaft is a modified chainsaw crankshaft.  The PTO was built up with weld.  The shaft was then machined to Power Product Go Kart dimensions. This crankshaft will
not going to cause you problems when fitting up to a clutch or
sprocket.  With this crankshaft you can use off-the-shelf sprockets
and clutches without modification.  In addition, you are not
limited where you place the sprocket or clutch to engage the key.
You can put your sprocket or clutch anywhere making alignment
easy.

The crankshaft journal is in very good shape.  See photo #3.

Facing the PTO the crankshaft rotates clockwise (CW).I tore the engine down and replaced with new:

piston rings;both crankshaft seals;both PTO crankshaft bearings;pump diaphragm;pump diaphragm gasket;diaphragm;diaphragm gasket;fuel strainer screen;carb inlet cover gasket;both brake washers on recoil starter; andstarter rope.

The
rod/crankshaft needle bearings are one row of 28.  There is no
play between the rod and crankshaft (in the direction of motion).

There is no play between the rod and wrist pin (in the direction of motion).

The cylinder head is 1010-81.  See photo #6.  All screws on the head were replaced with stainless steel socket cap screws and washers.

The
exhaust and intake ports are stock.

There are no broken or bent fins.

All threads are in excellent shape and there are no Heli-Coils.

The crankcase is a 4-bolt mount.

The carburetor is a Tillotson HL-93A.  A spacer is included in this auction.  See photos #8, #9, and #10.  With this spacer you can remove the carburetor without removing the fan shroud and stator assembly.  Photo #9 shows the carburetor side of the spacer.  Photo #10 shows the reed side of the spacer.

The spark is good with blue color.

The crankcase screws were replaced with socket head cap screws and washers with the exception of one screw.  This screw was counter-bored and is the only screw in the crankcase.  At this screw, there is a chip in the crankcase.  The chip does not affect the integrity or performance.  See photo #11.

The recoil was rebuilt.  A bronze bushing was installed in the rotor and the fiber brake washers were replaced.  A new starter rope was installed.

You are bidding on the engine as shown in photo #12.  Photos #1 and #2 are the same engine but are illustrative only.

The Billet Aluminum Velocity Stack and Air Filter are not included in the auction.

The GEM Exhaust Header is not included in the auction.

The Motor Mount is not included in the auction.
